The US Fish and Wildlife Service 'are reopening the comment period on their October 2014 ‘proposed rule to list the West Coast distinct population segment (DPS) of fisher (Pekania pennanti) as a threatened species.’ A prior ruling in 2016 not to list the species was challenged in the District Court for the Northern District of California, which directed the Service to prepare a new determination. By reopening the comment period, the Service looks to ‘give all interested parties further opportunity to comment on the proposed rule. Comments previously submitted need not be resubmitted as they are already incorporated into the public record and will be fully considered in the final rule. ‘
